DESIGNER & PERFORMER
Graeme Gilmour is a designer, maker, performer and puppeteer, working in many different aspects of the arts. He has designed and co-designed shows for theatre, outdoor spectacles, street festivals and TV. His work includes co-designing and performing in Shockheaded Peter, which has been touring the world for the past 6 years and transferred to the West End on a few occasions. It was awarded best design from the Critics’ Circle Theatre Award 1998 and nominated for 5 Olivier’s in 2002, including best design. He was awarded a personal development grant from the Arts Council in 2003, as well as an international fellowship.
He has worked with many companies both in Britain and abroad, such as Improbable Theatre, Dogtroep, UZ Events, Welfare State International, Walk the Plank, Contact Theatre, Spymonkey, Collectif Organum, Small Wonder, and The World Famous. (Graeme has recently accepted a position as Associate Director with The World Famous).

Shows include Cultural Industry’s Shockheaded Peter, Improbable Theatre’s Animo, Coma, Spirit, and the open air spectacular Sticky, various street parades and events for UZ Events, Midsummer Night’s Dream (ESC), Camel Gossip (Dogtroep Amsterdam), Struwwelpeter and Sommernachtstraum at Deutsche Schauspielhaus Hamburg. The opening event for the Olympics in Athens 2004.

His large scale work as a designer/maker/director has included the Forth & Clyde Canal reopening event, 11 events along 36 miles of canal; Divers with Same Sky, an underwater spectacle at Brighton Marina; collaboration with Group F and UZ Events for Glasgow’s Millennium celebrations; OOMF; and Sticky

Teaching work includes ‘Puppetry into Dance’ for Visions Festival 2002 with Yolanda Snaith. ‘I Peaseblossom’, workshop with Tim Crouch, for the Brighton Festival.
